Making an invisible battle visible.
Drop the Beat turns a musical duel into a physical game. Two players control record-player-inspired interfaces, sending rests and high notes along a one-dimensional musical scale. Sound, gesture, and the object work together to make the competition legible.
An interface you play, not just look at.
The console uses the familiarity of DJ equipment to invite hands-on play. Its form, controls, and construction are developed together, from early iterations and assembly studies to a physical prototype.

A shared exploration of physical play.
Designed with Yuhan Wang in MIT Interaction Intelligence, taught by Marcelo Coelho. The project brings industrial design and interaction design into one compact, playful object.
